Oh yeah ... sure thing.
All of the pundits ... Liberal and Conservative; Republican and Democrat; even FOX News ... are demanding that businesses create more jobs. But ...
Where do jobs come from?
Jobs are created when businesses have more sales. When sales increase a business hires more people to satisfy the demand. No increase in sales ... no jobs created. And ... when there are fewer sales (or non-productive jobs created) the business has to increase its prices in order to generate enough profits to pay their employees (job holders).
If businesses "create" jobs, they have to raise their prices to pay the increased payrolls.
Jobs are one of the highest overhead costs in business (i.e. salaries, matching SSI, insurance, workers comp, paid vacations, retirement plans, and more).
The only outfit that can "create" jobs out of whole clothe is the government - but - each newly created government job costs the taxpayers (you and me) and increases prices for everyone.
So ... don't "create" jobs. Increase sales.
Increasing sales is dependent upon the consuming public having faith in the future of our economy based upon "real" evidence of economic growth ... not self-serving rhetoric from the left or the right.
Jim
P.S. -- By the way, the government has to learn what businesses have always known, "You can't borrow your way out of debt."
